You were paid to turn a specific screw on a specific assembly line. If you touched the other screws, you broke the union rules. But the assembly line is gone.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">Today, we are not paid for &#8220;tasks.&#8221; We are paid for <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"52\">Outcomes<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Distinction<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Amateur<\/b> protects their scope. They build walls around their desk. If the ship is sinking on the other side, they say, &#8220;My cabin is dry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Professional<\/b> protects the mission. They understand that if the ship sinks, their dry cabin goes to the bottom of the ocean too.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Hidden Cost:<\/b> When you say &#8220;It&#8217;s not my job,&#8221; you are technically correct. But you are strategically suicidal. You are signaling to the market (and your leadership) that you are a <b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"182\">Commodity<\/b>. You are defining yourself by your constraints, not your capabilities.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Protocol:<\/b> If you see a fire:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-path-to-node=\"15\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Put it out<\/b> (if you can).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Sound the alarm<\/b> (if you can&#8217;t).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Never walk past it.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\">Walking past a problem is an act of approval.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"17\"><b data-path-to-node=\"17\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"17\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">Your job description is a suggestion.
