This is a delusion. A title gives you <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"164\">Legal Authority<\/b> (you can fire people). It does not give you <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"224\">Moral Authority<\/b> (people want to follow you).<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">True authority is not granted; it is ascended. Here are the 5 Levels of Authority. Identify where you stand.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 1: The Warden (Positional Authority)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mantra:<\/i> &#8220;Do it because I am the boss.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Dynamic:<\/i> Compliance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\">People follow you because they have to. If you leave the room, work stops. If you lose the title, you lose the team. This is the lowest form of power.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 2: The Merchant (Transactional Authority)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mantra:<\/i> &#8220;Do it and you get a bonus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Dynamic:<\/i> Trade.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\">People follow you because you control resources (salary, perks, approvals). You are not leading; you are negotiating.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 3: The Craftsman (Competence Authority)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"14\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mantra:<\/i> &#8220;Do it like I do it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Dynamic:<\/i> Respect.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,2,0\">People follow you because you are the best coder\/seller\/strategist in the room. You lead by example. This is good, but it doesn&#8217;t scale. You become the bottleneck (The Hero Trap).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 4: The Gardener (Developmental Authority)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"16\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"16,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mantra:<\/i> &#8220;I will help you become better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"16,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Dynamic:<\/i> Growth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16,2,0\">People follow you because they grow under your shade. You are no longer the best player; you are the best coach. Loyalty shifts from &#8220;the paycheck&#8221; to &#8220;the person.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"17\"><b data-path-to-node=\"17\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 5: The Architect (Systemic Authority)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"18\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"18,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mantra:<\/i> &#8220;The Standard is the absolute.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"18,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Dynamic:<\/i> Legacy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,2,0\">You don&#8217;t manage people; you manage the <i data-path-to-node=\"18,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"40\">Culture<\/i> and the <i data-path-to-node=\"18,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"56\">Systems<\/i> that govern behavior. You build a machine that produces excellence even when you are asleep. Your physical presence is no longer required for the mission to succeed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"19\"><b data-path-to-node=\"19\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Assessment<\/b> Look at your team.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"20\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20,0,0\">If they only work when you watch: You are a <b data-path-to-node=\"20,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"44\">Warden<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20,1,0\">If they only work when you pay: You are a <b data-path-to-node=\"20,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"42\">Merchant<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20,2,0\">If they work because they want to become like you: You are an <b data-path-to-node=\"20,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"62\">Architect<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"21\"><b data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">The lowest form of power is a title.
