Inside the smallest doll was a note: <i data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"124\">&#8220;If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">If you hire for <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"16\">Control<\/b>, you sacrifice <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"39\">Scale<\/b>. You can control a mediocre team, but you cannot scale them. You become the bottleneck.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Protocol: The Threat Assessment<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\">When you interview a candidate, pay attention to your own fear.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Feeling:<\/i> &#8220;This guy is arrogant. He might be difficult.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Reality Check:<\/i> Is he arrogant, or is he just competent?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\"><i data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Sovereign Rule:<\/i> If a candidate doesn&#8217;t intimidate you slightly, do not hire them.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">High Agency &gt; High Obedience<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"14\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Obedience:<\/b> &#8220;I did exactly what you said.&#8221; (Safe, slow, requires micromanagement).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Agency:<\/b> &#8220;I didn&#8217;t do what you said because I found a better way.&#8221; (Risky, fast, requires trust).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\">You cannot build a Unicorn with obedient sheep. You need wolves. But to lead wolves, you cannot be a shepherd. You must be the Alpha.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"16\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.
