We spread our energy like a thin layer of butter over too much bread.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Lie of &#8220;Balance&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">We are told to have a &#8220;Balanced Goal Sheet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"8\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\">Health Goal<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\">Wealth Goal<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,2,0\">Relationship Goal<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,3,0\">Hobby Goal<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">This guarantees mediocrity in all four. A ship that tries to sail North, South, East, and West simultaneously does not move. It sinks.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Polaris Principle<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">In navigation, you do not look at the waves; you look at the <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"83\">North Star (Polaris)<\/b>. Polaris is a &#8220;Single Point of Failure.&#8221; If you lose it, you are lost. But because it is singular, it provides <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"215\">clarity<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Protocol: The One Metric<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\">You are allowed to have <i data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">one<\/i> Fundamental Goal for this epoch of your life (usually a 3-5 year distinct phase).<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">If it is Wealth:<\/b> Then you miss the birthday party to close the deal. (And you accept the cost).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">If it is Family:<\/b> Then you reject the promotion to be at dinner. (And you accept the cost).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Cost of Clarity<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\">The problem isn&#8217;t that you don&#8217;t know what you want. The problem is that you want <i data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"102\">everything<\/i>, and you aren&#8217;t willing to pay the price for <i data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"158\">one thing<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">If you have 5 priorities, you have 0.
