If you memorize the encyclopedia, you are not powerful; you are a hard drive.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Slope vs. The Y-Intercept<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Think of your career as a graph.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"8\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Knowledge (Y-Intercept):<\/b> Where you start. (Your degree, your current skills).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Obsession (Slope):<\/b> The rate at which you learn.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">A &#8220;Smart&#8221; person with low obsession starts high but stays flat. An &#8220;Obsessed&#8221; person starts low but has a steep vertical slope. Mathematically, the Obsessed person always overtakes the Smart person, usually within 3-5 years.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Why Obsession Wins<\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-path-to-node=\"11\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Infinite Energy:<\/b> The Smart person works 9-to-5 because they are disciplined. The Obsessed person works 24\/7 because they are curious. You cannot beat someone who is playing a game while you are &#8220;working.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Pattern Recognition:<\/b> When you are obsessed, you see the problem in the shower, in the car, in your dreams. Your brain is processing in the background.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Resilience:<\/b> When a Smart person fails, they think, &#8220;I made a calculation error.&#8221; When an Obsessed person fails, they think, &#8220;Interesting data point,&#8221; and keep going.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Protocol: Follow the Heat<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">You cannot <i data-path-to-node=\"12\" data-index-in-node=\"41\">force<\/i> obsession. But you can detect it. Stop trying to learn things because they are &#8220;Marketable.&#8221; Learn things that make you forget to eat.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"13\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Test:<\/b> What do you do on a Sunday afternoon when nobody is watching?<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"13,0,1\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,1,0,0\">If it&#8217;s reading about Supply Chain Logistics, you should be in Logistics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,1,1,0\">If it&#8217;s coding, you should be a dev.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,1,2,0\">If it&#8217;s arguing about politics, you should be in&#8230; well, maybe get a hobby.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">Knowledge is the map. Obsession is the fuel.
