There is no boss to tell you what to do. There is no manual. There is only a blank sheet of paper and a vague goal like &#8220;Grow the business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Chasm &#8211;<\/b> This is where 90% of high-performers crash. They freeze. They sit at their desks waiting for instructions. They ask, <i data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"127\">&#8220;What do you want me to do?&#8221;<\/i> They are waiting for a Map.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">But at the highest level, there are no maps. If there were a map, we wouldn&#8217;t need <i data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"83\">you<\/i>; we would hire a cheaper technician to follow it.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Hierarchy of Value &#8211;<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 1 (Labor):<\/b> You follow the map. (Low Value)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 2 (Management):<\/b> You ensure others follow the map. (Medium Value)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Level 3 (Leadership):<\/b> You look at the wilderness and <b data-path-to-node=\"12,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">draw the map<\/b>. (High Value)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Protocol: Switch to Compass Mode<\/b> &#8211; Stop asking for directions. Start setting the direction. A map tells you <i data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"110\">exactly<\/i> where to step. A compass only tells you <i data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"158\">roughly<\/i> where North is.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"14\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Amateur asks:<\/b> &#8220;Is this the right way?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Professional says:<\/b> &#8220;I am going this way, and here is why.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">#DhandheKaFunda:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">Maps are for tourists.
